How quickly would you trust a stranger?
The actors’ identities are hidden and they are only known by their hacker name. Welcome to the stage Mad Matrixx, Cyber Shadow and Void Vigilante!
We live in a world where the sense of security is merely an illusion. Spy Girls are exploiting human weaknesses and finding technical loopholes to get the upper hand in this world full of conflict. Spy Girls is a combination of investigative journalism, cyber activism and performing arts. Our actors worked undercover for three months as beautiful young women. They opened up fake accounts on a Russian social media site called VKontakte, joined their dating feature Znakomstva and matched with men in uniforms. They catfished soldiers to find out the Russian army’s positions and weaponry.
Spy Girls play with the lines of ethics. How far can we carry our online investigation? Let us show you the personal data that gullible Russian soldiers gave us willingly.
Magda Szpecht from Jelenia Góra, Poland, is an award-winning theatre and opera director. After studying journalism and creative writing at the University of Wrocław, she studied directing at the Ludwik Solski State Theatre School in Kraków. Her work often combines the performing arts with elements of film and contemporary music. Following the 2022 invasion of Ukraine, Szpecht became a cyber activist, dedicating herself to supporting Ukrainians and combating Russian disinformation and propaganda.
The performance contains strong scenes, nudity and activist strategies that may be upsetting.
